Ingredients

Mascarpone Mixture
  • 8 oz / 225 g mascarpone cheese, cold
  • 1 cup heavy cream, cold
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Coffee Dip
  • 1 cup strong coffee or espresso, cooled
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons optional coffee liqueur, dark rum, or Marsala
Assembly and Topping
  • 20 to 24 ladyfingers
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Dark chocolate shavings, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Beat the cold heavy cream with the sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks develop.
  2. Add the cold mascarpone cheese to the whipped cream mixture and continue whipping for 15 to 30 seconds until smooth and thick.
Assembly
  1. Transfer the cooled coffee or espresso to a shallow bowl and stir in the optional liqueur if using.
  2. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture for about 1 second per side, then place them in a single layer in the serving dish.
  3. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers and lightly dust the surface with unsweetened cocoa powder.
  4. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture, then top with cocoa powder and optional dark chocolate shavings.
Chilling
  1. Chill the assembled tiramisu for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Dip the ladyfingers briefly in the coffee mixture to help maintain structured layers and avoid an overly soft texture.
