Ingredients
  

Dry ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
Mix-ins
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C.
  2. Beat the softened butter with the granulated sugar and brown sugar until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and blend until incorporated.
  4. Combine the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry mixture gradually to the butter mixture, stirring on low speed just until the dough forms.
  6. Stir the chocolate chips into the dough using a spatula.
  7. Place spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between cookies.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until the cookie edges are golden and the centers are set.
  9. Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet briefly, then move them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For cookies that are thicker and spread less during baking, chill the dough for 15-30 minutes before baking.
