Ingredients

Dry ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional for extra crispiness)
Wet ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Greasing
  • Non-stick spray or melted butter for greasing the waffle iron

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat the waffle iron to 375°F / 190°C to 400°F / 205°C before cooking.
  2. Mix the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and optional cornstarch together in a large bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl, blend the eggs, warm milk, melted unsalted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently just until combined, keeping some small lumps in the batter.
  5. Coat the preheated waffle iron with non-stick spray or melted butter.
Cooking
  1. Add enough waffle batter to the iron to fill the grid while avoiding overflow.
  2. Cook the waffles for 3–5 minutes until they are golden and crisp.
Serving
  1. Serve the waffles warm with desired toppings such as syrup, fruit, whipped cream, or butter.

Notes

Avoid overmixing the batter to help maintain a light texture in the finished waffles.
