Preparation
  1. Heat the oven to 350°F / 175°C and coat a 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Spread the cherry pie filling in an even layer across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  3. Distribute the yellow cake mix over the cherry filling, creating a complete layer that covers the surface.
Baking
  1. Place pieces of melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer.
  2. Bake the cherry dump cake for 45-50 minutes, until the top is browned and the cherry filling is bubbling.
  3. Allow the baked cake to cool for 15-20 minutes before serving warm or at room temperature.

Notes
