Preparation
- Heat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
- Mix the mashed bananas with the melted butter in a bowl until combined.
- Add the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract, then stir until evenly incorporated.
- Blend in the baking soda and salt.
- Add the flour and mix just until the batter comes together.
- Fold the chopped walnuts into the batter.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and level the surface.
Baking
- Bake the loaf for 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Leave the banana nut bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then move it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best flavor, and mix gently after adding the flour to help keep the loaf tender.
